Prerequisites: EDUC 101- Introduction to Teaching and Learning or SPED 102-Introduction to Inclusive Teaching or ECED 103-Curriculum in the Early Childhood Classroom and EDUC 121-Child/Adolescent Development or ECED 120-Child Growth and Development and ENGL 111- English Composition Corequisites: Pre/Corequisites: Description: An introductory course in the Science of Reading. Introduces the educator to the basic tenets and teaching strategies required for implementing skills to teach phonemic awareness, phonics, and foundational writing skills in the elementary classroom. This course requires a minimum of 32 hours of video or in-person observation of literacy instruction and peer teaching practice based on the Science of Reading. This course may be taught in face-to-face, blended, virtual, and Learn Anywhere formats.
