Catalog description

This course introduces the principles and processes that shape the patterns of racial and ethnic group relations in the United States. The course examines the social, cultural and economic causes and consequences of prejudice, discrimination, and racism. It offers a sociological framework to address immigration, the growing diversity in the United States, and racial and ethnic struggles worldwide. As an honors course enrichment is achieved through limited class size, seminar format, more extensive reading and discussion of major concepts, theoretical perspectives, and empirical findings. Credit in either SOC 20 or 20H, but not both. C-ID: SOCI 150.
