History of Photography

Catalog description

This course presents an overview of the history, technology, and aesthetics of the science/art of photography from the earliest experiments in the medium to the present. The course analyzes trends that led to the contemporary expression of the medium in the late twentieth century. Students must attend at least one major photography exhibition. This course is required of photography majors. PHOT 1 is also listed as ARTH 1; credit will be given in either area, not both.
