Back Office Medical Assisting

Catalog description

Covers the skills performed in the medical office laboratory, including patient preparation, accurate specimen collection, Point of Care Testing, and equipment handling and calibration, regulatory compliance within OSHA, CLIA and CDC guidelines.  Students identify and demonstrate safe methods of specimen collection, including urine, throat, respiratory and wound tissue specimens following compliance with regularity and industry standards.  Students will evaluate lab test results within normal and abnormal ranges.
