Beginning French I

Catalog description

This course is designed to develop the fundamentals of communicating in French, including basic conversation, listening comprehension and reading. The emphasis is on speaking and comprehending native spoken French. The course introduces basic writing skills and also presents general aspects of French and Francophone life and culture.  FR 1 is equivalent to two years of high school French. Credit may be earned in either FR 1 or 1H, but not both.
