Catalog description
Analysis of the formulation of ribonucleic acids (RNA) for therapeutic purposes. The effect of formulation on biochemical stability, affinity and specificity, distribution, cellular internalization, and biological activity is explained. Methods for manufacturing lipid nanoparticles, viral and non-viral vectors, as well as the study of biochemical processes for developing messenger RNA vaccines and other therapeutically relevant nucleic acids are discussed. Applicable manufacturing regulations are considered. The laboratory component will use analytical and molecular methods to determine RNA concentration, detect chemical contaminants and impurities, and ensure the purity and integrity of RNA. Requires 30 lecture hours and 45 laboratory hours.
