Catalog description

Discussion of computer forensics concepts. Application of tools, methods, and techniques necessary for the extraction, collection, recovery, preservation, protection, and analysis of digital data that can be used in legal investigations. Case analysis and report preparation. Discussion of the importance of continuing professional development and awareness of the social, ethical-legal, professional, and security issues and responsibilities in the discipline. Requires 45 hours of lecture-laboratory time.
