Therapeutic Applications of Ribonucleic Acids

Catalog description

Description of the development and manufacturing of therapeutic ribonucleic acid (RNA) products for human use. Emphasis is placed on the biochemical properties of RNA that allow for its modification, thus personalizing its therapeutic use. This course also discusses current therapeutic applications and modalities of messenger RNA (mRNA), such as replacement therapy, vaccination, and cell therapy. Techniques are applied to purify and characterize RNA molecules, supported by bioinformatics resources that allow for determining the molecule's sequence and integrity using molecular methods. Requires 30 lecture hours and 45 laboratory hours.
