Catalog description
This foundation course focuses on Generalist Social Work practice with emphasis on strengths and small-systems perspectives. Emphasis is on theories, methods, and techniques of practice within the contexts of individuals, families, and small social networks, complementing knowledge, skills, and behaviors covered in SOWK 525. Documentation, assessment, networking, and the development and use of resources are examined. Approaches for integrating practice with larger systems are included. Laboratory work includes role playing, simulations, and videotaping as an integral part of this course. Co-requisite: SOWK 525.
