Catalog description

This course will cover a wide range of tools typically employed (or underemployed) in non-technological music fields. The course will include discussion and practical application of tools such as live sound reinforcement/amplification, digital audio editing, platforms for digital music creation [3], livestreaming and recording music performances, and electronic and alternate controllers for music making. The coverage of each area will focus on practical application, with a strong emphasis on open-source, free, or low-cost tools for use in the often-constricted budgets of therapy and education. In addition to the hands-on orientation of course, a basic level of theoretical underpinning for each topic will be covered to ensure durable knowledge of both the state of the industry and the future tools aspiring music therapists and music educators may encounter.
