Catalog description

This course is designed to provide music therapy majors with essential guitar skills needed for therapy settings. Students will learn fundamental guitar techniques, including tuning, chord progressions, strumming patterns, transposition, and basic fingerpicking, focusing on their practical application in music therapy. Emphasis will be placed on repertoire development for various therapeutic populations and settings, primarily utilizing popularized music from the last century. No prior guitar experience is required, but students must provide their own guitar. This course prepares students to effectively incorporate guitar into music therapy sessions as one of the primary clinical instruments.
