Catalog description

This course prepares students for mental health case conceptualization and treatment planning in art therapy. Students will apply biopsychosocial and systems perspectives to the conceptualization and treatment of addictions, eating disorders, and trauma. They will learn about the neurobiological and medical foundations of these disorders. Students will complete readings by experts in the field of art therapy, will lead classroom discussions, and will create art in response to their readings. Field experiences, classroom activities, and case studies will help students to apply what they learn to real-world clinical practice. This course is for advanced students in the MHC Art Therapy Track, and prerequisites are MHCA 500, MHCA 502, MHC 541.
