Catalog description

This course provides an orientation to art therapy and the counseling profession including history, roles, organizational structures, ethics, standards, and credentialing. Information related to professional preparation standards, certification, licensure, and accrediting bodies will be incorporated within the context of what it means to dually indentify as a professional counselor and an art therapist. The American Counseling Association Code of Ethics, the American Art Therapy Association Ethical Principles, and applicable laws will be studied in detail. Understanding of ethical practice will be enhanced by application to specific ethical dilemmas that could occur in clinical settings.
