Advanced Psychopathology

Catalog description

This course covers general principles of etiology, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health and emotional disorders and dysfunctional behavior. The initial focus will be historical development, theoretical approaches, and philosophical assumptions associated with mental health diagnosis to provide a context for the remainder of the class. However, the primary focus of this course will involve consideration of the major diagnostic categories for adult psychopathology from current diagnostic classification systems (including the DSM).
