Multicultural Counseling

Catalog description

During this course, students will reflect upon issues and trends in a multicultural and diverse society. Students will study cultural identities and pluralistic trends including characteristics and concerns of diverse groups. Students will discuss attitudes and behaviors based on such factors as age, race, religious preference, able-bodiedness, sexual orientation, ethnicity and culture, family patterns, gender, socioeconomic status, and intellectual ability. Students will be prepared to incorporate what they have learned into individual, family, and group counseling strategies with diverse populations.
