Intro to Exercise Science

Catalog description
This course serves as a comprehensive introduction to the multi-disciplinary field of Exercise Science. This course provides an entry-level survey of the primary pillars of exercise physiology, functional anatomy, biomechanics, behavior science, nutrition, exercise assessment, and exercise prescription. Students will explore the history of exercise science, how the human body adapts to physical stress, and the scientific principles used to optimize health and human performance. Beyond theoretical foundations, students will receive an orientation to the professional landscpae of exercise science and related professions and map their academic pathways toward careers in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Strength and Conditioning, Clinical Exercise Physiology, an Athletic Training, among others.
