Catalog description

This course is the first semester of the year-long culminating design experience for all engineering seniors, the capstone project. Teams work on a project with internal or external partners or for national competitions to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs and requirements within constraints, considering risks, as well as generating and evaluating multiple solutions. Students will incorporate appropriate engineering standards and multiple constraints to a design project that is based on the knowledge and skills acquired in earlier course work. Students will also develop skills needed to be personal and professional leaders in their careers. ENGR 496 is generally taken in the first semester of the senior year, and ENGR 498 should be taken in consecutive semesters. Prerequisites: ENGR-496 and a minimum of 55 credit hours in required Math, Science, and Engineering courses.
