Catalog description
This course teaches the process of compiling material for UIndy’s literary and fine arts magazine, Etchings. Students will learn about the process of selecting manuscripts, audio compositions, and artwork for publication in a magazine, of establishing criteria for selecting material for publication, and of reaching consensus for material to be included. Students will learn about the printing and production process with the goal of producing a diverse literary and fine arts magazine that represents the university. This will include formatting and designing a literary and fine arts magazine, composing magazine pages using a desktop publishing program, editing and proofreading literary manuscripts for publication, and working with printing companies. This course may be taken four times for credit. ENGL 270 and 280 strongly recommended as prerequisites.
