Catalog description

This course focuses on building knowledge and skills about the foundations of literacy acquisition as well as principles of scientifically based reading instruction. There is an emphasis on oral language development and word recognition, including key understandings of the relationships between phonological and phonemic awareness, decoding, and spelling. Additionally, candidates will develop knowledge and skills about oral language development, language comprehension, the role of reading fluency and foundations of written expression.
