Intro to Natural Sciences

Catalog description

This 3-credit hour course will provide a biological foundation for biology majors on the principles of scientific inquiry, biological chemistry, cell structure and function, genetics, evolution, classification, diversity of living organisms, and ecology for future biology courses. Through a flipped classroom style course, students will engage with content manipulatives, use scientific tools and methods, take notes/create mind-maps about the history of life science discoveries, and make content connection to world applications. Emphasis will be placed on understanding who scientists are and what they do, tools of inquiry, and the nature of science through weekly scientific method ecosystem experiments.
