Catalog description

This course will provide an introduction to the theory, history, practices, and principles of art therapy. The course will include concepts of symbolism, human development, and artistic metaphors. We will explore therapeutic concepts and techniques and their application in various professional settings. This course will largely focus on the artistic experience through experientials, assessments, and introspective reflection. Through hands-on experientials and observations, the students will develop a personal understanding of the creative process and art therapy assessments in their own psychological and emotional self. Students will gain perspective of this process as both creator and viewer.
