Catalog description
This course introduces students to the study of mechanics of aggregations applied to earthwork and foundations design. Soil mechanics is applied to the analysis, design, and construction of foundations, slopes, retaining systems, embankments, roadways, tunnels, levees, wharves, landfills, and other systems that are made of or supported by soil. Other topics covered include the fundamentals of soil origin, composition, structure, and properties, and introductions to soil identification, classification, permeability, strength, and compressibility. Hands-on labs included. Prerequisite or Corequisite: MEE-321.
