Catalog description

A review of the history of music with the objective of providing students with aesthetic and cultural experiences. Covers some elements of music and explores works of a variety of composers from different style periods. Not open to individuals with credit in MUS-180. (For students who need to complete Humanities Core requirements and have already completed the art portion of MUS-180. Meets either the first or second half of the semester.) Can be met with equivalency through MUS-144 Music and the Human Connection, MUS-145 Sound and Meaning: Music through Human Experience, or MUS-146 Encountering Music.
