Catalog description

The course examines analytical and numerical techniques for solving first-order ordinary differential equations as well as higher-order linear differential equations. Linear algebra topics are introduced to facilitate the analysis of differential equations, including systems of linear equations, matrix operations, vector spaces, and eigenvalues and eigenvectors. Other topics include initial-value and boundary-value problems, Laplace transforms, numerical methods, and modeling. Students may not earn credit in both MAT-265 and MAT-353. Prerequisite: MAT-254.
