This course introduces research design and statistical methods used in intelligence and crime analysis. Students examine quantitative and qualitative research approaches, data collection strategies, sampling techniques, and foundational statistical concepts relevant to public safety contexts. Emphasis is placed on interpreting data, evaluating research credibility, and applying evidence-based reasoning to analytic questions. The course also addresses ethical research practices, responsible use of emerging technologies and AI-assisted tools, and Christian worldview principles that affirm integrity, stewardship, and respect for human dignity in analytic inquiry. These experiences prepare students for advanced analytic and data-driven coursework.
