Introduction to Intelligence and Crime Analysis

Catalog description

This course introduces the foundations of intelligence and crime analysis in contemporary public safety contexts, including law enforcement, national security, and the private sector, and distinctions among tactical, operational, and strategic intelligence and crime analysis, preparing students to recognize how analytic products support different decision levels. Students examine core concepts, introductory structured analytic techniques, and basic workflows used to support intelligence-led decision-making. Emphases are placed on guided practice in analytic reasoning, locating and interpreting open-source and structured data, and communicating findings in clear, professional formats. The course also engages legal and ethical frameworks and a Christian worldview that affirms justice, stewardship, and human dignity in intelligence practice.
