Catalog description

An introduction to the discipline of history and its relationship to the Christian faith with a focus on the history of science. Students will explore methods and theories of historical inquiry, the importance of history for Christianity, and examine the history of science from the classical era to modernity. Students will trace the lives, works, and cultural contexts of those who shaped modern science, exploring their ideas, the problems they solved, the controversies they sparked, and how they transformed concepts of the 'natural,' scientific observation, experimentation, and the relationship between science, religion, politics, and the arts.
