Social Conflict in American History

Catalog description

An introduction to the academic discipline of history and its relationship to the Christian faith with a focus on societal conflict in American history. Students will explore methods and theories of historical inquiry, the importance of history for Christianity, and examine American history through the lens of a particular social conflict (possible topics include the American Revolution; debates over slavery; Indian removal; immigration and nativism; cults/new religious movements; conspiracy theories). As a part of the Humanities Core this class engages students in their love of neighbor by exploring the political, social, religious, and culture conflicts in our nation's history.
