Catalog description

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the U.S. healthcare system and its place within the global context. The historical basis for the system's organization, the various modes of healthcare delivery, and the ways healthcare is organized, financed, and delivered in the United States are presented. Students will be introduced to the levels of healthcare services, health insurance, public health, healthcare finance and purchasing, and current challenges to the system. The organization and delivery of healthcare services is presented from a virtuous business perspective.
