This course studies the historical, social, cultural, and technological influences that have shaped the English language. Topics include major historical events, such as the Anglo-Saxon migrations, the invention of the printing press, and the rise of mass media. Students will also explore the principles of word formation, affixes, roots, and the relationships between words, providing a comprehensive understanding of language development.
