Catalog description

This introductory course combines college career readiness and introductory writing into an integrated, mastery-based experience. Through an engaging narrative framework spanning twelve weeks, students develop essential academic and professional skills across three phases: establishing foundational competencies, mastering communication, critical thinking, writing through themed skill modules, and synthesizing their learning into professional portfolios. Using workplace-relevant scenarios and authentic assessments, students build proficiency in professional identity development, multimodal communication, source evaluation, academic writing, and career readiness. The course emphasizes practical application, allowing students to progress at their own pace while creating a portfolio of professional documents that serve both academic and career advancement goals.
