Catalog description

Blueprints for Belonging empowers candidates to create inclusive, literacy-rich classrooms that inspire engagement, collaboration, and academic growth. This course emphasizes designing culturally responsive environments that foster a sense of belonging, high expectations, and self-motivation while adapting to virtual, hybrid, and face-to-face settings. Candidates will explore evidence-based strategies to enhance content-area literacy, build academic language, and deepen comprehension through targeted reading and writing practices. Additionally, the course focuses on optimizing classroom management, schedules, and physical spaces to maximize learning opportunities while engaging families and communities as partners in literacy development. By equipping candidates to cultivate confident and connected learners, this course transforms teaching into a blueprint for student success. Field experiences are required. Prerequisite: EDUT-350
