Catalog description

This course prepares elementary pre-service teachers to connect the fine arts disciplines of dance (movement), music, theater and visual arts with the content areas of English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies at the elementary level. Experiences with the concepts, tools and processes in each fine art discipline are a primary mechanism for building knowledge of, and possibilities for, natural and constructed intersections of the fine art disciplines with other content areas. The fine arts are framed as an avenue through which learning happens and a tool to promote engagement, meet the needs of diverse learners and reach developmental goals that extend beyond content knowledge.
