Assessment and Planning for Evidence- Based Practice

Catalog description
This practicum course involves experiential learning in the practice setting with a focus on strengthening professional competencies for advanced nursing roles and interprofessional collaborative practice. Learning centers on comprehensive assessment of the practice environment to identify problems and prioritize opportunities to mitigate risk and enhance organizational and/or health outcomes. Students utilize healthcare information systems to support data collection, analysis, and decision making. Priority goals and outcome objectives are determined, along with plans for evaluation of outcome achievement. Frameworks that guide quality improvement and systematic change initiatives?are applied to facilitate plans that will translate evidence into practice. Detailed, action-oriented plans are formulated to construct a formal proposal for the DNP project. Analysis of the forecasted resources necessary to support the initiative and plans for proactive communication and collaboration with stakeholders are included. Ethical leadership, professional communication, as well as the Christian values of humility and care for others are applied throughout this practicum course.
