Catalog description

This course is an introduction to the basic concepts and principles of addiction theories and counseling approaches. A bio-psychosocial framework will be presented to assist in understanding addictive behaviors and substance use and abuse. The philosophies related to prevention, intervention, treatment planning, family education and recovery will also be explored.
