Catalog description

As one of the core requirements for certification as a child life specialist, this course is taught by a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) and will explore the major concepts related to the field of child life. Students will learn about the foundations of child life practice including when and where child life services are offered, as well as Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP) and Child Life Certification Commission (CLCC) documents and requirements. Specific services and interventions will also be examined including therapeutic play, coping strategies, family-centered care, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.
