Class Hours: 2 Lab/Discussion: 3 Credits: 3 Prerequisite: (BIOL 104 and BIOL 114) or BIOL 150 (may be taken concurrently) Corequisite: n/a Prerequisite or Corequisite: BIOL 104 or BIOL 155 Restriction: Safety, health, and environmental applied sciences majors only or instructor permission Description: Explores the principles which control human performance and its effect upon the safety and reliability of systems. Addresses engineering anthropometrics, human perception, biomechanics of motion and work posture, work physiology, and human performance measurement in the context of their application in workplace design. Instructs in methodologies for analysis of tasks and human performance requirements. Studies important human limitations and ergonomic hazard evaluations, such as lifting and repetitive motion tasks in laboratory sessions.
