Class Hours: 2 Lab/Discussion: 0 Credits: 2 Prerequisite: NURS 316; grades of “C” or better in NURS 330 and NURS 331 and NURS 332 and NURS 333 and NURS 336 and NURS 337; or permission Corequisite: NURS 433 or permission Restriction: Nursing majors only Description: Introduces the principles, concepts, and best practices that guide nursing practice in a variety of psychiatric/mental health settings. Enhances knowledge regarding the role of the mental health nurse in prevention/intervention as it relates to the individual, family, and global community with mental health conditions. Develops the ability to integrate evidence-based practice when caring for the mental health client. Considers the impact of technology, environment, social determinants of health, and current issues in psychiatric/mental health nursing.
