Class Hours: 3 Lab/Discussion: 0 Credits: 3 Prerequisite: MUSC 215 with a grade of C or better. Corequisite: None. Restriction: Students must be enrolled in a music degree program, the Music Minor, or the Certificate in Popular Music Studies. Description: Introduces the materials, forms, and aesthetics of post-tonal art music. Explores diatonic modes, synthetic scales, pitch-class sets, 12-tone music, basic transformation theory, and recent compositional trends. Involves model composition.
