Class Hours: 3 Lab/Discussion: 0 Credits: 3 Prerequisite: none Corequisite: none Restriction: none Description: Deals with the different approaches used in teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing—manual language, oral language, and total communication. The historical background of each approach is presented with its strengths and weaknesses. Criteria for the use of each approach are established in consideration of degree of loss exhibited by the pupil, the age of onset, and the social and psychological implications.
