Catalog description

This course examines ethical perspectives about why we as individuals might or might not be obligated to engage in activities with the explicit purpose of benefitting people other than ourselves through the political process. The class examines what categories of people we might do so for, on the basis of social class, race/ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation. It also focuses on issues prevalent in the media and on the agenda of the government at the time of the class, and challenges students to decide what actions they should take regarding these issues,and then take such actions.
