Catalog description
This course focuses on developing the knowledge, philosophies, pedagogy, and dispositions required of school choral music educators for grades 5-12. Topics include administration, curriculum development, literature selection, instructional planning, appropriate and adaptable assessment strategies, and teaching practices that are developmentally appropriate for adolescent students. An emphasis will also be placed on practically applying inclusive practices for meeting the physical and neurological needs of students with (dis)abilities through differentiation, curriculum design, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and other evidence-based practices specific to the choral classroom. A blend of coursework and field experiences will put theory into practice. Prerequisites: MUS 201 and admission to BCP I Co-requisites: MUS 393 and 490
