Catalog description
An introduction to the music teaching profession with an emphasis on philosophical and historical foundations, curricular concepts, principles of instruction, professionalism, and introduction to strategies to effectively educate and assess diverse populations of students in future music classrooms. This exploration includes a history of and introduction to current education and (dis)ability law and allows students to examine these laws within a musical context. An introduction to writing lesson plans and creating and/or assessing curriculum will also be covered. This course includes guided observations of various P-12 music programs.
