Theory of Probability

Catalog description

Interpretations and axioms of probability, sample spaces, permutations and combinations, probability laws, univariate and bivariate random variables (discrete and continuous), essential distributions (normal, binomial, etc.), Poisson processes, moment-generating functions, and the central limit theorem. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in MATH 231 and MATH 320. Note: Open to graduate students. Graduate students are required to do additional work of a research nature.
