Core Practices 2

Catalog description
To promote children’s social emotional learning, preservice teachers will explore research-based core practices that are applicable across multiple content areas, such as communicating with students and families, orchestrating classroom discussions, and applying instructional modeling and questioning. Preservice teachers will enact these core practices in elementary-classroom morning meetings after examining representations of practice such as case studies, videos, and lesson plans. Notes: Course may only be repeated once in order to receive a passing grade Prerequisites: Admission to BCP, criminal background check, and a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Corequisites: For field placement purposes either ELED 291 (Inquiry into Teaching in Grades K-2) or ELED 325 (Inquiry into Teaching in Grades 3-6)
