Catalog description

This course introduces students to the principles, design, and applications of electric machines and motors used in industrial, automotive, and renewable energy systems. Topics include the construction, operation, performance characteristics, and control of DC machines, induction motors, synchronous machines, and emerging motor technologies such as brushless DC and stepper motors. Emphasis is placed on hands-on learning through laboratory experimentation and simulation such as Multisim, LabVIEW. Notes: A laboratory component requiring additional contact hours Prerequisites: ECT 165 and ECT 167
