Catalog description
This course explores the complex and often overlooked dark sides of human communication. By examining topics such as deception, manipulation, conflict, and unethical communication practices, students will develop a nuanced understanding of how communication can be used in harmful or unethical ways. Through weekly readings, reflection papers, and a media analysis project, students will apply communication theories, develop ethical perspectives, and learn how to create messages that are effective and appropriate for diverse audiences.
