Topics include chemical thermodynamics (laws of thermodynamics, criteria for spontaneous change, phase equilibrium, chemical equilibrium, and behavior of ideal and non-ideal pure substances and mixtures) and chemical kinetics. Notes: Open to graduate students. Graduate students are required to do additional work of a research nature. Prerequisites: CHEM 321 and 321L; MATH 132; PHYS 116 and 116L, or PHYS 106 and PHYS 106L. Corequisites: CHEM 461L
