Inquiry in the Middle Level ELA Classroom

Catalog description
This course aligns closely with the inquiry standard in the National Board for Professional Teaching ELA Standards by demonstrating ways to instill a sense of wonder in students and the disposition to seek out complex answers. Teacher candidates will examine the various facets of inquiry, including frameworks to guide instruction. This methods course focuses on effective instructional approaches that help early adolescents frame complex questions and develop the skills to seek out and communicate answers. Teacher candidates will also learn how to effectively integrate families and communities, as well as technology, when integrating inquiry into the ELA classroom.
