Social Studies Content Inquiry in the Middle School Classroom

Catalog description

This course approaches social studies content (concepts, events, processes, etc.) as venues for scholarly inquiry. Through the disciplinary lenses of civics, economics, geography, and history, preservice teachers will integrate subject content with inquiry techniques and pedagogies from the four disciplines to create products that are appropriate for use in middle school classrooms. Emphasis will be placed on how professionals in the field use inquiry skills and how students use inquiry skills in their lives outside of schools, in local settings. Prerequisites: TCH 130 or concurrent registration.
